The New Year is the perfect time to reflect on the success or pitfalls of the previous year’s efforts, revisit goals and targets and revise your marketing strategy. Be honest with yourself when you assess what worked for you in 2014, stop throwing money at mediums that aren’t working for you, your budget may be better utilised elsewhere.
So, what do you want to achieve in 2015?
“More business” is not a constructive goal, you need to break this down and ensure you have well defined goals. Do you want to grow your business locally? Push a particular product or service?
Be clear and concise and consider the steps you need to take to achieve your goals. How can you target people in your area? You can launch location targeted social media campaigns and PPC campaigns, create new and engaging content tailored to your locality. Consider how this will be tracked and monitored – an increase in local traffic / conversions? New rankings for location based keywords?
Where is your audience?
There are many avenues competing for your marketing budget, think about who your target market is and where you can find them. Is there already an online community that you can tap in to? How do these people search / use the internet?
Refresh your marketing strategy, include targets and KPIs.
Consider these simple New Year’s resolutions:
- Be brave – don’t be afraid to try something new. Embrace change and take risks.
- Don’t give in to using shortcuts – they’re not sustainable and you’ll get caught out. Have faith that doing things the right way will pay off.
- Dedicate time / budget to content marketing.
