What is LUMA?
We developers at First Internet believe in building and supporting communities, in that vein we have recently decided to start a new group called Laravel Users Manchester (LUMA). In a previous blog post Tom Parson gave an account of the new codebase being developed at First Internet, using the Laravel PHP framework. We hope to use the group to share our thoughts on Laravel and how it can support our development process, as well as learning from others’ experience with the framework.
Why does LUMA exist?
Actively discussing best practices, techniques and code snippets only serves to improve how we and others develop web systems. Creating groups such as LUMA gives structure and focus to this improvement, allowing all contributing developers to grow as a community together.
Members of the group are all free to give their own talks, and short of that contributions can be offered in open discussion sessions. This leads to shared thought processes cultivating creative solutions to development scenarios. Showcases allow members to demonstrate how they have overcome obstacles in their own work, and bringing this knowledge back into the group.
Where will LUMA meet?
The group will be meeting regularly in Manchester city centre at Manchester Creative Studio, First Floor Fourways House, 57 Hilton Street, M1 2EJ, Manchester.
Who can attend LUMA?
Anyone can join us at LUMA, whether you only have a passing interest in PHP or have been using Laravel for years, we welcome all.
