Apple’s annual WWDC event was last night and some of us from the office eagerly watched to see what the tech giant has in store for us this year, as usual they haven’t disappointed.
We’ll quickly run over some of our top highlights from this year’s event.
Since Apple Pay was released back in 2015 they’ve seen a steady growth in people paying for goods with their smart device instead of using their card. We’ve also been able to purchase products through apps using Apple Pay but from “fall” you’ll be able to purchase things online using Apple Pay just like you can now with PayPal.
The payment will work just like it does through the apps, when you visit an Apple Pay enabled website through Safari and confirm your payment, your phone will ask you to authorise the payment through your phone’s fingerprint reader.
iMessage has had a complete overhaul and there are some pretty cool new features coming out:
It’s how you say it:
You can now control the way your message bubbles look, shout it out or whisper it.
Write it yourself:
You can send a message in your own handwriting and when you receive a handwritten message it will animate just like it would on a piece of paper.
Say things like “Happy Birthday!” or “Congratulations” and iMessage will take over and send animations.
Tap to replace emoji:
Once you’ve finished typing a message and you’re looking for that perfect emoji you can now simply press the word and iMessage will automatically replace it with the relevant emoji.
So, there are our top highlights from WWDC 16, there are plenty more new features coming out in the “fall” so watch out for that notification on your device.
