France Launches Terror Attack APP Ahead of Euros 2016

The French government has launched an app ahead of the Euro 2016 Tournament that will alert users to a possible terror attack and provide them with useful information on how to stay safe.

The app that was announced by the French Interior Ministry on Wednesday 8th 2016 is called SAIP (Système d’alerte et d’information des populations) and was developed as part of a pilot project following the November 2015 terrorist attacks in Paris.

The app uses your phone’s geolocation to deliver information tailored to your specific location with alerts appearing less than 15 minutes after an incident is confirmed. The app also allows you to view alerts for up to eight different geographical areas in case you want to check on friends and family during an attack, the app also shares alerts directly to your social media profiles.

The app is available in French and English and is free to download on iOS and Android.

If you’re heading over or know someone going to the Euros I’d highly recommended downloading and installing this app.
